Pitched roofs
Tile and shingle roofs
Many tile roofs here don't need new tile. They need new underlayment under it.
The tile is shade and armor; the underlayment is what keeps water out. Sun dries it out first. That's why a tile roof is often lifted, re-papered and laid back down, and why we say so when the tile is fine.
What we work on
Clay and concrete tile
Asphalt shingles on houses, additions and garages
Matching tile for repairs where we can find it

Tile lift and re-lay
How a tile job runs
Step 1: Walk and photograph
We look at the whole roof and photograph cracked tile, flashing and penetrations before anyone lifts anything.
Step 2: Lift and stack the tile
Tile comes off in sections and is stacked on the roof so the weight is spread out.
Step 3: Check the deck, replace the underlayment
We check the deck, replace any wood that is soft, and lay new underlayment with new flashing at walls, valleys and pipes.
Step 4: Re-lay, replace the cracked
Tile goes back in its pattern. Cracked pieces are replaced with the closest match we can get.
Step 5: Clean up, final photos
Magnet sweep of the yard, a walk-through with you, and photos of the finished roof.
What goes on
What we install, and how long to expect it to last
Clay and concrete tile
The tile itself can last for decades. The underlayment beneath wears out sooner, and we say which one your roof needs.
Asphalt shingles
Yuma sun is hard on them. We tell you what we see, not what the box says.
Underlayment and flashing
Written into the estimate as their own lines, so you can compare them with another bid.

Questions about tile and shingle
Does my tile roof need new tile?
Often not. If the tile is sound and the roof leaks, the underlayment is the usual cause. We check by lifting sample tile.
Can you put a new roof over the old one?
Sometimes, on shingles. Not over two layers, or a wet or damaged one. We say what we see.
Do I need a permit?
Almost always for a full replacement. The permit comes from the city or county where the house is. We can pull it, and the estimate says if the fee is in the price.
How long does a job take?
Most homes take one to three days. Tile lift and re-lay takes longer than shingles. In summer we start before sunrise.
