“We are here from November to April. They lifted the tile in October, laid new underlayment and sent me photos every day while we were still in Oregon.”
Roofing in Yuma, Arizona
Pitched or flat, built for the Yuma sun
We re-lay tile, replace shingles and recoat foam roofs across Yuma County.
Which roof do you have?

Built for Yuma
Five things Yuma does to a roof
Sun that doesn't quit
Ultraviolet light cracks sealants, chalks coatings and dries out the rubber boots on vent pipes. We look at all three first.
Heat that sets our hours
Summer crews start before sunrise and come down by late morning. Hot decking is hard on people and on adhesives.
Water that stays
A flat roof is meant to drain. If water is still standing two days after rain, the slope, a drain or the surface is the problem.
Monsoon spillover
From mid-June to September a storm can drop rain fast. Packed scuppers, loose tile and dried-out flashing show up in one afternoon.
A recoat before it is too late
A foam roof is protected by its coating, not by the foam. We tell you when a recoat will do and when the foam under it has taken on water.
Two kinds of roof
Pitched and flat roofs fail in different ways
Sun, water and dust treat them differently, so we do too.
| Flat and low-slope: foam, coating, membrane | Pitched: tile and shingle | |
|---|---|---|
| What the sun does | Flat and low-slope: foam, coating, membraneWears the top coating first; once it is gone, the foam or membrane follows | Pitched: tile and shingleDries out the underlayment long before the tile shows wear |
| Where leaks start | Flat and low-slope: foam, coating, membraneSeams, drains, parapet corners and wherever water stands | Pitched: tile and shingleCracked tile, flashing, vent pipes and valleys |
| What a monsoon does | Flat and low-slope: foam, coating, membraneClogged drains and scuppers hold the water on the roof | Pitched: tile and shingleWind lifts loose tile and drives rain under flashing |
| How we check | Flat and low-slope: foam, coating, membraneWalk the roof, check each drain, press on soft spots | Pitched: tile and shingleWalk the roof, lift sample tile, look in the attic |
Flat roofs
Where the water goes
On a flat roof the whole job is getting water off. We start at the drains.
Drains, scuppers and parapet corners first, then the surface. Then we tell you whether the roof needs cleaning, a recoat, a repair or a replacement, and what each one involves.
On a flat roof visit
Drains and scuppers cleared and checked
Seams and parapet corners walked
Surface checked for blisters, cracks and thin coating
Photos of each problem, marked on a sketch of the roof

The Yuma roof year
When to do what
- May to June
Step 1: Before the monsoon
Clear drains and scuppers, reseat loose tile, renew sealants and flashing. A job started now is done before the first storm.
- Mid-June to September
Step 2: Monsoon and peak heat
We repair leaks and make storm-safe fixes. Big jobs wait for cooler weather unless the roof cannot.
- October
Step 3: After the season
We look at what the summer did. A good time for a recoat or a tile re-lay.
- November to April
Step 4: Winter visitors
Many owners are away part of the year. The cool months suit roof work, and we send photos while you are gone.
From customers
What neighbors say
“I own two flat-roofed duplexes. They showed me the thin spots in the coating and priced the recoat as one line and the one repair as another.”
“Water stood by the cooler for days. The drain was packed with palm debris. They cleared it, added an overflow and told me the roof itself was fine.”
“They started at 5:30 in the morning and were off the roof by noon. The garage was swept when they left.”
